FYI SoundStream Ref Info Posted

I have been looking around for the new Reference series amps and found them on onlinestereo.com (not an authorized SS reseller). SonixElectronix which is authorized hasn't replied yet. Anyone know where to get these now? Since these are version 2 (?) of the Reference series I'd feel better with the full warranty from SS.

Kind of dissapointing that they aren't implementing the autoswitching power supply that used to allow the old references to run at 1/2ohm stereo & 1 ohm mono. Looks like they did manage to leave the clipping lights on top atleast, used to love those.

We are have been carrying them for a few weeks now, They are great looking amps, built like the old Ref. Actaully the TRA amps look a little more beefy inside, soldier joints looks just as nice also. But the quality I would say is in the Ref. Hopefully we will be bench testing these soon!

It is just sad that they may not be as good or comparable to todays high end offerings. There References were amongst the epitomy of high end then, but since the bar has been raised some. They need to come forth with high grade build to fill the same slot they once did. Considering those released specs dont show signs of flexibility, I think shows them to not be the same in terms of design.

I dont like this.... Am i reading this wrong, or are they gonna be chincy with the parts tolerance?

"Today thankfully, advanced technologies in small-signal processing and MEGA-FET power devices, makes it possible for a complete and faithful re-introduction of these phenomenal sound processing machines, minus the added cost of 2% resistors for example and high-count B-FET devices."

Although I havent been happy withy the company past years, I gotta say I'm a Soundstream fan for life- just hope they again make a product I'd want to put in my car and can recommend to my friends.

I was told from a very good source that they won't be out till June or later.

And for the record, they are calling them the Soundstream Reference Encore series.

I contacted Soundstream directly 2 weeks ago and the contact said these won't be available for 6 weeks.

I just talked to one of their biggest distributors and he confirmed that it won't be for another 4 weeks or so. My guess is that any site advertising these is just trying to get pre-orders. If anyone does have these let's see some pics, manuals or better yet some internal shots and bench tests.
