FYI SoundStream Ref Info Posted

Had that same amp. Could actually get it back if I wanted //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Maybe if my 8004 ever breaks down on me.

Ref series with Rubi Tech mixed. Few dealers and techs I've talked to say there going to be just like the old SS, better internal components used and power handling, but not made in USA.

i doubt they'll be to the same quality as the og versions.
I wouldn't be too surprised if the new series turn out to be very good amplifiers. They are supposed to be using very good internal components from what I've heard, and very similar in design to the original Ref's. Main difference is the manufacturing outside of the USA....which really, isn't a bad thing. It'll allow them to keep costs lower, and many overseas manufacturing firms are capable of high quality construction.

So...I wouldn't jump to any negative conclusions too early.

I wish they would have made them stable down to lower impedances like the older amplifiers though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I always wanted one of those shiny chrome Class A SS amps hehe. Rubicons are good amps their van gogh series was very good aswell . Soundstream is a decent company this new stuff coming out should be good too but like squeak said the old models that were 1/4 ohm stable were NICE //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yep the old Ref Class A's, still have a 10.0 squirreled away //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

I will be running a Class A 10.0 and a Class A Picasso that I bought way back in 2005-6. I have stored them for years since I couldn't bear to part with them, and they became the classics I hoped they would.

Yup, just about everything in your computer is made overseas, in fact much of it was engineered overseas... for electronics everywhere except maybe africa is an OK place to have your stuff made.
