Funny, I RARELY get tailgated in the ol' STL, but i read this thread this morning and sure enough, this afternoon, i get tailgated. Made me think of this thread and chuckle. I was going 60-65 in a 60 in the far right lane of a highway and some red saturn creeps up my a$$ until he's so close I can't see his windshield wipers. WTF, I'm in the right lane and there's no exit for another mile, get off me. Being that i drive a stick, I just roll off the throttle and let the car engine brake. I eventually slow all the way down to 35 and he still won't just pass me. I soon manage to maneuver in traffic to get behind him because I SURE don't want to be in front of him. I see it's a college kid (hint: parking pass) on his cell phone drifting out of his lane so bad he almost hit a guardrail twice and later drove all the way onto the left-hand shoulder and back. Scary.

uhm. i'd agree with you, but you made it more dangerous by getting in front and braking. you could have caused fatalities by doing that to a sober driver.

you have a really backwards logic. You hope in creating more unnecessary accidents to prevent accidents in the future. If you make some one swerve and then they hit another car besides them... lets say that is a family van full with kids and mom and dad... then what kind of justice are you serving?

Yeah, sorry Dev, I was tired as hell when I wrote that.

And that picture is why I think the silverado, at 80, would fair worse than the accord. With the accord, the deer rolls up and over the cab. With a truck, all the force of that truck smacks that deer then and there, THEN tosses it toward the cab..making that mess you see in that picture.

I just think people could drive safely. Whatever people need to say on a cell phone can ****ing wait, we don't need to hear every bass note five cars away, and save the sports driving for a track. Everyone enjoys seeing a nice car, but no one enjoys an ******* putting others at risk because he's "confident" in his driving and cuts people off and exceeds the speed limit by a good margin.

****ing with tailgaters will just get them more pissed at you, causing more problems. What the other poster did, letting them get in front, is the smartest thing you can do in that situation.

since were talking about tailgaters on the road here, i've noticed they seem to want to pass you but even when it's possible they don't(on a regular 2 lane highway)... that's when at the end of that long straight away you get in the oncomin lane slam on the brakes and then ride their bumper.
