I've gotten to the point where I refuse to vote for anything anymore...and it only took 4 years of eligibility.
I feel the same, our republic is gone. Voting now seems redundent andd a bit insane. We need to change our govt to actually listen and care...but its not gonna happen so **** it I guess

While I do applaud RAM for the thread you should vote...we get the gov't we deserve/vote for...if there were more people out there who took an active part in paying attention to politics and their gov't we wouldn't be in some of the shit we are in, like 14 trillion in debt and counting.
This upcoming election will again swing on the independent/middle of the road (run over) voter who pays attention to politics for about 2 weeks prior to an election...makes for a very shitty government, but there you go.

Its funny to watch one side blame the other side for all our problems in this country, when the reality is both sides' politicians want the same thing: personal gain.
Our govt started going down hill when we started relying on professional politicians whose only career is making sure they keep themselves in power. There's a reason the founding fathers envisioned a govt that is run by "the people". It was originally understood that people from the local communities: the bankers, lawyers, farmers, store owners, etc would be elected to office, and then once removed from office, would return to their actual career.

dont be disrespectful, i will vote in a hope to change things. i have voted in all the election i have been able to. but every time i loose. except bush but i lost with that either way...lol. its the whole govt tats an issue really. the prez is elected but none of his adjuncts are. they have to be approved by congress but if the congress is in the pocket of the prez then there is no checks and balances system.
i know this might seem stupid but it bothers me, have we seen obamas birth certs yet? the FBI is supposed to confirm it all before hes electable but what if the FBI is compromised? its to much man. i don't feel to great about our direction as a whole.
