future systems-me vs my friend, in the SQ department...am i even close?

i am planning on very soon to get a 15" XXX (still cant really decide between that or a brahma). my friend will be getting a 12" Alpine Type X, he will seal it with 2 cubes i believe; off of an alpine amp(somewhere around 1000w) . and im still not sure but lets just say i port my XXX with 4 cubes after displacement; off my kx1200.......... now i was wondering how close my SQ would come to his?? his in a minivan mine in an suv.

Theres no way for us to tell that. Both setups have potential to sound great, but its going to be based on other things, such as the components, install, etc.

if he is doing a type X sealed, and you compare yours ported. he instantly wins the SQ battle.

output is a different story.

also the least important part of an SQ setup.

Big part of it is going to be the install. You can always figure out the POTENTIAL but thats can be (a lot) different from what actually comes out.

I beg to differ about the ported looses to sealed automaticly. if you port the sub low and have the box the proper size and make a port with little port noise to none such as aero ports of proper size. You can result in a output that will have a lower bass not to mention it can result in a flater bass. it is all instal. if you want to win make a transmision line properly deepest most non resonent bass thats my next thought for my grand cherokee but you won't have enough power with that 1250 if its in a t-line enclosure. also if you build a ported box to have it flat and for sq have a strong midbass because the XXX 15 will peak out low but will sound amazing if done right talk about low bass with a 15 and still have mad responce. though it is still all in the instal. Not to mention personal taist both will have difrent harmonic carectoristics. Pardon the bad spelling.

Gl man as long as you do it right I think you'll be happy, never heard a type x in a car(let alone a minivan //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif so can't comment about that.
