Fusing on 1000/1

Well i got a JL 1000/1 and its currently fused at 80A with a maxi fuse (was quick buy and such).

Was talking to a buddy who works at a audio shop and was talking to him about running a T block which owuld run to my Maxi fuse block and an ANL fuse block. He said i would be fine running at 150A ANL fuse for the 1000/1 as long as my gains and such are set fine.. ? But JL says in the block to run a 100A?

So would i be fine with the 150A or should i just get the 100A?

 
There isn't any point in running the 100a over the 150a. In reality it probably won't make a difference but there isn't any reason not to get the 100a unless you already have one or something.

If it's a matter of going to the store and buying either a 150a or 100a, just get the 100a.

 
Oh, wait. I misinterpreted what you meant. I thought you were replacing the fuse on the amp.

I still dont think your understanding me.

I have an in-line in the engine bay.

Im looking at putting a fuse between the amp and the inline.

JL says to fuse it at 100A so that if your amp pulls more than 100A it will pop the fuse and not fry the internals of the amp.

Does the JL amp have an internal fuse?

No JL amps are not fused internally, at least thats what ive been told and the impression i get from the owners manual.

The way my setup will be..

it will pretty much be a direct shot from the Inline fuse (250A I think) to my 1000/1 with no fuse in between except this one (one we are talking about)

 
yeh if it doesnt have any fuses for the amp, run a 100a fuse not a 150a, roughly wanna fuse 10a per 100w, but either way the 80a fuse should blow before the 100a, but if for some reason the wire comes loose after the 80a fuse and grounds out you will want the 100a fuse to break when the wire grounds out to the chassis

Ya im running an 80a right now.. but im going to bypass that fuse block when i get the 100A.

And i thought that was the rule, the 10a per 100w, just wasnt sure.

 
you need to have a fuse near the front battery to protect the wire and a fuse near the amp to protect the amp, dont bypass the first one
You didnt read all of the thread did you?

I have a 250A(ish) inline fuse 12" from my battery.. then i have a fuse block running maxi fuses for my amps right now.. they dont make 100a fuses for maxi style. hence i need a T block to split my 0/1 to both the ANL fuse block (for my 1000/1) and then also to my MAXI fuse block (for other amps).
