fusing an amp externally ???

im looking at getting a soundstream rubicon 2500 and im pretty sure it has to b fused 200amps externally do i just run the fuse in the 4 gauge after the distribution block before going into amp ?? or is there a diff soundstream i should look into

There has to be a fuse between the battery and the amp. Thats all that means. You will need bigger than 4g wire if 200a is recommended.

ok thanks why does this amp not have fuses in it i was only saying four becasue its manual says 4 gauge input

no i looked and looked again if you got to there site every other amp says the number and the amperage fo the fuses this oneonly says 200 and if you look at a pic of it i see no fuses on it

i know what ur saying the amp doesnt have any fuse connected on the body of the amp physically but instead it came with a fuse holder and a fuse that u would mount externally.....audiopipe amps do this also idk if all but mine does....i was confused at first but i just took a acg fuse that was rated the same as the one that came with the amp and put it into a fused distribution block.....solved the problem and never had a problem with it doing it that way......i used a main anl fuse that equaled the amount of both fuses i used in the blocks in order to protect them better close to the battery

ok thnaks guys im still not decided on what amp to get but this is one of the ones im considering

it's not that uncommon for an amp not to have built in fusing. Several really big amps don't just because there's not a simple/neat way to include 200+ A worth of fusing on the chassis.

There are a few high quality lines that don't use them regardless of the size of the amp.
