Sold Fs: Re Mt 12

well im not exactly sure...got it all hooked up last night, had it wired to 2.8(cause it was dual 1.4 not dual 1) just to test it off of a boston amp(500 x 1 @ 2) turned the volume to 7 sounded fine, but once it got to 11 out of 35 a scraping noise was coming from under the cone and it instantly put the amp into protect...and now the amp wont even work.
The subs supposed to be new? Who you bought it from?

that sucks

jesus christ man, SHOP, keep a piece of equip for a minute. how much have you lost on this?
you've got a problem friend, you've got a problem
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif i havent lost anything other than the Boston amp...whuch was pushing a set of 12's right before the MT so i know it worked...and yes...i have a problem:crying:

but would that send the amp into protect?..and ever since it went into protect, ill pull the fuse and try it again but its in constant protect....any idea why that is?

the top plate probably was hitting the coil and grinding away at it till it shorted out and most likely fried the amp.

well that sucks....what should i do about the amp?..i mean it was working before hand and now it doesnt work at all...which in all likelyness the sub caused correct?...so should i hold the seller of the sub responsible or what?...im not just going to be "out an amp"...know what i mean?

maybe the vc got knocked outa place during shipping or something?
i wish i knew for sure...but i dont...thats kind of what leaves me in the place i am now...it came in a crate...not sure if its the same thing as RE sends but was in a crate none the less...but the thing is...the woofer blew my amp...im positive of it...it sends it into protect on the same subs it p[owered for more than a month before this.

i think unless the seller is a really good guy you are screwed. Hopefully they will at least refund or replace the MT, but i wouldnt expect to get the amp paid for either. Thats the risk you take doing your own install instead of paying a shop to do it i guess. Sucks mang. Hopefully it will all work out.

well thats the thing..i havent paid for it...we worked out a trade and he sent first....but now im out an amp and a woofer so im not going to send mine ya know...so basically i look at it as having 3 options...A) tell him he is beat until the amp is replaced...and then he can pay for shipping back...B) he can pay for a recone and my amp...or C) just lose out on the amp and ship it back....which will not happen...i cant afford to just be out of an amp.

honestly i think the fair thing to do is just ship it back to him. He eats the shipping cost, and you eat the dead amp. If you try to keep it, or demand he pay for the amp..i think he would have recourse to slander your rep here. You're buying selling rep should mean more. How old and how much $ was the amp that burned up? Hopefully is wasn't very nice and didn't cost a lot.

i know its not what you want to hear..but that what i think (last time you will ask i know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i'm responding to your pm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. anyways i'm gonna try to help but what my guess is that the guy that sent you the sub will not accept responsibility for the damaged sub. if you can, can you file a claim to the company that shipped it? if so try it. i doubt he'll do your option B since he will probably claim that the sub was in working order. if you can't file a claim then hopefully you can try to work something out with the person who gave you the sub. hope this helps. but my guess is you are out an amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.
