I'm assuming these are much brighter than the silk pair? I need something mellow but still sharp.. hm.

No, these really aren't bright to me. They're detailed, and still have the top end shimmer that's typical of a metal dome, but it's not as sharp as some MQ Quart/Focal type tweeters that I've heard.

A little eq'ing on them would go a long way, also.
