I've read more than once that it's not. It does the same @ 4 ohm

Some do it, but it isnt really needed to be ran at 1 ohm. Is does its RMS power rating at any impedance load between 2 and 4 ohms, and most subs can be wired to fit in there somewhere.

I thought that was the Tantrum? If both do that, what's the difference between the two?

Titanium. Doesn't do same power at 4 ohms. Rougly 650 at 4 ohms rms. And the rating was at 14.14 volts. The difference between the two is that this is a class a/b amp and the tantrum is class T. This one is much higher quality. And a lot bigger foot print.
