I must say - this is a helluva an amp! I wish mine looked as good, but I've fixed it up a lot. (By the way - I am selling McIntosh side rails if anyone needs a new set - pm me - just $30 a pair and they match -unlike the new ones from the factory that look a totally different hue)
I just love it because (aside from it sounding incredible at lower volumes) you can seriously crank it and never get ill effects. That power guard system eliminates clipping by using some sort of light activated system to sense potential clipping before it happens and automatically lowering its level. So - instead of nasty distortion, you get a minute amount of compression instead... much easier on the ears! If you want more power, you can always connect the power gaurd output to the ground and remove the effect and gain a few watts in the process.
They are rated at 12 volts instead of the normal 14.4 and they build in 1db of headroom which translates to roughly 100wrms upping to 142wrms and 50 to 71. They look hot... they are built like Mac Trucks and you can pass yours on still working to your great grandkids!
Well worth the investment in my opinion =) Good luck with the sale and sorry about throwing that in about the side rails... just made some for my own and figured I wasn't the only one missing rails that didn't want the rose tinted ones from the factory =)
