Chevy HHR's have a built in PCM that doesnt allow the voltage to go over 12.4 unless its for short periods of time.

This module allows you to go well above that up to 15.3 volts.

yes, its actually very simple.

Some cars charge at very low rates in order to put less stress on the alternator.

The PCM tells the alternator what output to do.

the MLA basically tricks the PCM and badabam.... higher voltage...
