Ok I have a BLOWN Memphis MOJO 16-MCD4kw Amplifier out side is in very good shape have both end caps one is missing one of the tabs but holds on there just fine..

The amp does turn on, is not in protect but no sound at all, I opened it up and the main power coil closest to the power input is black.. So I am selling this as blown or will trade it as blown. I got a price from db-r and said it should be about $250 to $300 max to fix.

This was mounted on my box and db-r said this is common with these amps and can upgrade all the solider points so this never happens again. So it's an easy fix..

I can get pics tomorrow of the out side and inside if anyone show interest in it. Never really sold a blown amp before and since it's a simple fix and they upgrade all the solider it will be better then new and should not have this issue again.

So my asking price is $400 plus shipping and I can ship right to DB-R if you want to save on shipping.

I will also trade for a sundown 15" D2 to match the one I just got from allout13 on here. I would need it to match in power handling etc and I think all the new ones are, his was a recone upgraded version to take 3000wrms..

Mine looks just like this. BUT THIS IS NOT MINE I WILL GET PICS TOMORROW IF ANYONE WANTS THEM. This is just for anyone that does not know this amp..

Actual images of the amp..

Ok that sounds good, where do I send the amp to and do I wait until

you look at it to send the money to be fixed or after you have fixed

it. Never had to have one repaired before.. But as we are shop that

just opened and we deal in high end and old school amps I may have

some to send you if the work is good on this amp it works again..

What would the turn around time on something like this be. Also the

upgraded soldering is that just on the part you replace or do you guys

go over the full board.. Also is there any upgrades that you can do to

these to make them any more better or more effiicient on a 12v system

and still be good on 16v or 18v systems?

Memphis charges $400, so do we. HOWEVER, it may only be $300 if only

the power supply needs rebuilding. That's what it sounds like but

cannot gaurantee you anything till I get a look at it.

We do a much better job repairing these than Memphis does,

especially now, as recently we have been getting in Memphis 4K's

from customers who first sent them to Memphis to be repaired, then

they got it back and it blew up again almost immeadiatly. I think

they have high school kids working on them, the work is really bad

and they are making mistakes like using the wrong parts etc.

We also have competitors running Memphis 4K's rebuilt by dB-r that

are winning trophies with them in USAC and dBdrag comps. David

Paulson with Sinister Motorsports runs 4, we rebuilt all 4 and he

placed 2nd or 3rd in dbDrag SB3 I think it was at world finals this

past year.

Vibration is usually what kills Memphis 4K's, breaks the legs off

the mosfets, this sounds exactly like what happened to yours. We do

an upgraded soldering on these amps to make the 100% vibration

resistant. The soldering is so strong that it will literally rip

the board apart before it breaks the leg off the mosfet.

I have a Memphis 16-MCD4KW that needs to be fixed. I hooked it up the

other day and everything comes on and still does come never went in

to

protect, it would put out very very little power to the subs. We were

checking everything to make sure nothing was lose and then it just

started to smoke. We shut down the car pulled fuse.. Next day we put

the fuse back in and checked it again still came on but very very

little came out the subs. We opened it up and found it was burnt and

black around 2 of the big coils close to the power side.

Is there any way to give an cost on how much or if this can be fixed?

I can take some pics of it before I send it if that may help.

Thank you for time and please get back to me asap I emailed Memphis

but they never replied..

Thanks

Brad

I am also 99% sure it's only the power supply thats the only things thats black..

It still turns on and some sound did come out of it but not much.. I would say it's just the power supply.. I am open to offers as well and trades for this amp.. Before it had it's issue it sounded great TONS of power for sure, I ran it at 1.3 ohms only I never went lower with this amp due to have 3 D2 subs..

$250 + shipping to me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Kind of low, I paid $750 for this amp, I would fix it before I going that low, now $250 plus 100ft knu 1/0 wire in blue we got a deal.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Doesn't matter what you payed for it, it's a giant good looking paperweight right now. I actually could get 100' of super course Cu stranded house drop service cable (4/0 4/0 2/0) for an okay price if you would be interested.

Have fun with sale. :p

I could also just fix it and sell it for $650 to $700.. But like I said this is a good way for someone to get one cheaper and kind of in 2 payments since they are getting it cheaper and then just has to pay to fix it..

Why can't someone that knows how to fix it benefit from their knowledge and experience, instead of 100% relying on someone else? Why sell it broken at the price where in the end you pay almost what you could pay to get it off of here working? There's only a minimal difference in potential saving, $50. If I were to buy it right now, and it was only the power supply fets, which almost all of the time takes out one pair of output transistors, or vice versa, it would cost me somewhere around $150 in raw materials (fets) to fix! That's assuming that the gate drivers didn't die. I am interested if you lower it down to my previously mentioned price. If so, why don't you just go and get it fixed?

Free bump. :p

The big difference to the end buyer that sends it to db-r is they don't have to spend $700+ for one that might have the SAME issue this one after being fixed should never have an issue or the same issue they are know for..

I am not going to take $250 or less then $400 bottom line I don't have to sell it, it's already been sitting for 3 or 4 months I am in no rush to sell it.

BTW if it's only going to cost you $150 to fix it you only have $550 plus shipping in it, you can then sell it for $700+.. I can add.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I plan on using it if I have it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What's the point in making so little money?

I seems you're a little bit too concerned on how much money is possibly profitable from the person you're selling to. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif:greedy://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif:greedy://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif:greedy:

I am cheap. Why do you think I buy broken amps? So I can fix them. Another reason is because I can. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Edit: I have been coming off as a bit too offensive for my taste when it comes to social standards.

I respect you, I love all of your equipment, I am seriously looking at some of your stuff, but I am slightly irked by this whole deal. :p
