Yeah, more than likely it's a romeo 4.6L

The 4.6L V8 engine was 1st introduced in 1991 in the lincoln town car, but yeah 1996 was the 1st year that the mustang got the 4.6L V8 modular engine (switching from the older pushrod 5.0L engine).
