What is your car? If it's a hatchback, a 10 would probably give you all the low extention you could want and a 12 wouldn't be needed. Do you strictly want JL or are you considering other sq subs, as there are a ton of awesome subs that would be very happy with your 500/1, and would probably outperform w7's, and w6's for less $$$ or around the same. (Dls Iridium, Image Dynamics, etc.)
