Friends' Amp overheating and blew a fuse after about 30 minutes of play

My friend bought 2 Dual 4 ohm kicker cvrs with a ported box wired to 4 ohm. his p8002 came today and the cvrs were already broken in prior to today so we played it pretty loud for the time it was being played. It was probably totaled to about 30 minutes and a fuse blew. The amp was overheating like a mofo and the gain is all the way at the bottom because i didnt have a voltometer to set it. I have the subs bridged into the 8002 in order to create the 4 ohm load. I wired the subs myself so im 99% sure the subs are wired correctly because i used crutchfield diagram. The fuse was a 60 amp. He has 4 gauge power, 8 gauge ground. I am wondering what are the possibilities for his amp overheating/fuse blowing. I would think the most common reason for this would be having the amp run the wrong ohm load, but I'm pretty sure its all good so i don't know whats up. Can you guys tell me some possibilities for the amp overheating/fuse blowing so i can check tomorrow and see what could be wrong? I might hook it all up to my car tomorrow to make sure none of his wiring is wrong.

ah, ive been telling him to upgrade ground but he hasnt thought it made a big difference. i didnt think it would overheat the amp with low ground but that makes sense. could the ground be causing the whole problem? thats the first thing ima tell him to change tho.

Yes. Ground should always be the same size or larger than the power wire. 98% sure upgrading the ground will solve the problem.

i upgraded the ground to 4 gauge, and of course its still overheating. im pretty sure the ground is grounded well, but im going to hook his setup to my car to see if its definitely the ground or his wiring if the setup does not overheat in my car. this is really pissing me off...!!

bump, i put his setup in my car and it STILL is overheating the amp. i think the subwoofers might be wired wrong or somethign this makes no sense... what are the possibilities? its not the ground.
