im hookin up my friends system in like 2 wks...he's tossin in 2 12" mtx terminators, im makin a new box for him, and he's gonna get an amp that duz about 400-600w at 2ohm...only problem is he has a 2008 mitsubishi lancer es with the 7" touchscreen navi STOCK...how am i gonna hook up the amp to that stock headunit??...does it alredy have rca inputs??...also, how do i get apart that dash??...ive found videos on it but im not 100% on it..is there a website that can help me with this install???...its a **** near brand new car and i dont wanna fvck anything up so help is greatly appreciated

First of all you would want RCA outputs not inputs.

I don't really know how to take the dash apart but if you want to hook an amp up to the factory head unit you could get a LOC "line output converter" and wire it into the speaker outputs for the head unit. I had a friend that had a new impala and I tapped into the ignition wire under the steering column and wired the LOC to the speakers in the back dash. That saved me from having to take the radio out.

hope this helps at least a little bit.

Link to an LOC

i was looking into the LOC...i told him he may need 1 as well...and ur right, outputs, not input, my badd
No biggie man. Just making sure you knew.

the12volt.com has wiring codes....etc

Nah you don't really have to go into dash unless you have to run your remote wire there. But you can find another 12V switched output to wire to....

The LOC just wires into the speaker outputs from the deck. You could tap into the rear deck speakers, though.

the12volt only has the 2009 lancer...but what other spot could i hook up the remote wire to without going in the dash??...it would seem pointless to go into the dash for a single wire

If you don't drop the dash you are going to have to figure out the color codes for the wires underneath the steering column. You could wire it to an ignition wire.

Honestly, it may be easier going into the dash behind the radio than going in under the steering column. The reason I did this in my friends Impala is because their isn't really an ignition wire directly behind the radio......those newer GM cars are wired differently through like an Ignition Control Module or something.

Get an alpine amp with signal sensing turn on, no remote wire needed. I think the PDX series does this. You can get LOC for 99cent from parts express.com, or you can go to walmart and buy one for 20.
Resistor based LOCs sound like piss. I tapped my ignition wire in my 08 pontiac no problem, wouldnt do this without a relay AT ALL. The radio probably does not have RCAs or an ACC wire.

Ive had good luck with these

PAC SNI-35 RCA Line Output Converter LOC Adapter HI LOW - eBay (item 350355198654 end time Jun-15-10 17:42:39 PDT)

You can get vampire taps like these at any auto parts store

2 EA 3M 804 GEL FILLED WIRE SPLICE VAMPIRE TAPS VS: eBay Motors (item 220598394993 end time May-31-10 01:24:32 PDT)

just tap the speaker pos and neg. you might want to tap the fronts so you can fade to the front for more bass and have bump at the same time. do it the other way and youll have bass without much highs or mids
