Hey, I haven't posted or been on the threads for a while, but my friend of mine wants top of the line components for his 2006 CLS500. He likes the way his speakers sound right now, but they are not loud enough. He went to an audio store and they said just to add an amp to power them more, but he's looking for top of the line components (front and back) and an amp to power them. Price is not really an issue, possibly $400-$500 for the components and $400-$500 for amp to power them.

He will be keeping the stock deck, I am not doing the install, but I'm sure he'd want to look into the clean sweep you think? Even with a clean sweep do you still need a LOC?

And there is a price limit, can't be spending $900-$1000 on the components. He heard top of the line focals and liked them, but then I had him listen to my Elemental Design eDi6500's with 100W to each and he liked them too, so I highly doubt he will need the top of the line stuff but he wants it to sound clear and be able to get loud.

The stock speakers right now are decent, but on max volume, it is clear but not even close to how loud/clear my eDi's can get. He doesn't seem set on wanting to buy from Elemental Designs, so I suggested to him the Focals, Diamond Audio, or CDT's (which I told him are basically the same as my eDi's) I just don't know which model of them. He seems pretty set on JL audio amp, or something clean to power them.

What do you guys suggest?

I got a set of rainbow profi speakers, its a 3 way set, Ive heard they sound amazing but I never got a chance to install them, they are BNIB, PM me if your interested and lets make a deal---Dinty

$500 bucks will get mid-line company top of the line components. You should just say he wants a very good component setup with a very good amp.

Don may still be able to source you a 4150 but highly unlikely, I would suggest Arc SE amp as well, pricing will have to be flexible though. The Germaniums would probably be the best choice, unless he wants to go 3 way, maybe delve into some DLS product.

He went ahead and picked up a 300/4 to push his stock harmons a little more and says that it sounds a lot better. Pretty good deal with $400 installed on the black JL anniv. amp. I checked on ebay and they are going for around $330. I was pretty surprised that he got a pretty good deal for buying locally.

He's happy with it, so that all that matters. I told him if he doesn't like the way it sounds, then he can go ahead and upgrade the speakers, but get some extra power onto them and see how he likes it, because he liked the SQ of his stock speakers, just they weren't getting loud enough.

After X-mas he's going to look to add a small sub. Most likely he's going to want to stay with JL, so for SQ I might suggest a W6v2? Or 8W7? He doesn't like loud bass, just something that blends well with his mids
