Friend or pro????

Why don't you ask him if he'd mind if you watched him/helped him with it?
he wouldnt have any problem at all with me helping, thats what i would def do just so i would be able to see how to install a system for future refrence

I'd say go with the friend, one crack head installer is just as good as the other.

Most shops have a reputation to uphold. Most shops have contracts/workorders that outline exactly what is being done. Most shops warranty their work for the life of the car.

I know we've had a few ****ups at our shop...we've shelled out thousands due to those ****ups.

Will such and such from down the block that does installs in his front yard be there down the road when that power wire that he ran through the firewall without a gromment finally rips through the shielding and shorts out the cars electrical system? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

it was a joke, chill homie
I'm perfectly chill //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Just want people to realize that the cheapest way isn't always the best...and in a lot of cases, turns out to cost 10x due to someone elses mistakes.

rockguy- if you go over everything with him as he's doing it, I guess there is no harm in having him do it. Just use common sense- even if you aren't great with installation techniques- if you see him doing something that doesn't look right/safe (he might not even realize it), then you'll be able to pick it up.

I hate all the people that say "do it yourself" without even finding out what vehicle it is.Even though it's in your sig.I've corrected a ton of "DIY" installs. Not everyone is capable.

And I don't get why you guys think you're the top installers in the world, and shops aren't capable of anything and just ran by idiots.Think you're the only one that can install a system?I know plenty of shops that are extremely capable.I used to work at a shop, and no one there really cut corners.

I'd have your friend do it and help him out along the way.

Read the install manuals on all the stuff before you start that way you'll know what's going on.

Just make sure he/you does a good job as far as safety. Proper fuses, running the wires correctly, etc.....

Take you time and do it right.
