free program for editing video?

my digital camera takes videos and automatically stores them as .mpg. my question is what program can i download for free what will let me edit the videos. i dont want to do anything special, i just want to add text and maybe blend some videos together with one audio track on top....

Are you running microsoft XP?

If so look in Start, All Programs, Accessories then Windows Movie Maker. Upload your movie and edit. Its on other OS's besides XP, the only one I am for sure of though is XP since that is what I run.

vegas video is REALLY easy to use IMO, but very powerful at the same time. You can download the trial and find a crack for it no problem, though I, of course, am not recommending you pirate software.

does windows 98 have video editing options?

my canon/memory card is strange. when i take a video with my camera after it is done i can edit it ON the camera iself. BUT when ever i save the movie onto the computer THEN put the memory card back in the camera, the video file clip WONT come back up on the camera screen. not an error, just cant read the file or when it comes to the selection while skimming thru the pic, its just black and has a message about the video.

anyone know about this?
