How would you go about living tips for the garbage man?
I would like to leave them a 12 pack of Keystone or something. It would be funny.

I put the case of beer in the garbage can in a new bag with a peice of paper that said Merry Christmas, then put the lid on it so it wouldnt get snowed on, and so no one walking by would just snag it.

hmmm I didnt go to college, and I do pretty damn well for myself and my family, thank you. In fact, I make more money than my wife whom has a bachelors in chemistry.. Guess what field I am in?? I play with chemicals, go figure.

WELL said! And Im pretty sure they make a tad more in MI.
Thanks, just baffles me the assholes in this world. Here they are picking up our shit and some guy has to bash them for their choice of job, when a lot of people would kill to have that job. Shit is just unreal!

I guess he will be a desk jockey, keyboard commando his whole life, where he can sit back and make fun of the hard *** workers that deserve more IMO than the wages they get now.

Oh well, I didn't think Hintzy was this big of an *******, but I guess I was wrong.

Also hintzy, tell your local trash guy how you feel about them. I am sure they would love to show you how they really feel, *******!

Wow, feel special now?
Do you know how much people get paid to pick up trash or drive the garbage trucks?

Well I do and they make really good money FYI. Hell, I applied to be a driver, but you have to know someone really well to get that job.

Waste managment around here, the drivers start over 30k. The trash pick up guys make well over 20k a year, which isn't bad for the state of Ohio.

I guess anybody who makes less than 15 dollars an hour is a bish, huh?

Anyway, nothing wrong with giving some hard blue collar workers.......which at one time ran this country something to look forward too.

I hope you have a shitty Christmas ***!
I'm the one who said they trash guys make good money dumbass. Why should I give a guy a Christmas present for doing a job that pays you a decent wage without requiring an education? The other guy's justification was that they do a crappy job because they pick up trash. I say that's a small price to pay for being able to support your family on a high school diploma. I know my garbage man and mailman, and they both get presents from my family each year. But we give them gifts because they do a good job and are nice people, not because we feel sorry for them.

Do I ever want to be a garbage man and handle people's trash? No, and I'm sure that the guys who do it didn't dream of it as kids either. But I made good choices, got good grades, and worked hard to make sure that I could get into a good school and on the path to a good career. I should not feel obligated to pity someone because they made bad decisions and have to pay a minor consequence. There are millions of people out there working jobs they hate, whether blue collar, white collar, or no collar. 99.9% of those people don't get gifts from the people they serve either. My point is that garbage men are not special and should get gifts for the same reason as everyone else, and not for misplaced pity.

Wow. My father owned a garbage company for 28 years. He has lived comfortably owning 2 houses, nice cars and toys. It may not be everyone's first choice as a job but you can make a **** good living off of it probably making more than most college grads if you own your own company.
You don't have to be obligated to thank anyone for doing their job but for the laborers its a nice gesture. You tip the garbage man, its remembered and the next time you have a load of trash including shit that can't be thrown out, he will take it.

I worked for a local recycling company since I got out of high school before I started working as an installer. I just recently went back after getting laid off. I get paid til 3pm everyday and I work from 6-11am. I now have the whole afternoon to work a second job. Not to mention the christmas tips are awsome. So far I've made over $4,000 since the beginning of December or so.

Not trying to argue, just making a point that going to college doesn't mean everything if you want to make decent money
This goes along with my point. I get my g-man a gift because he does a good job, fudges the restrictions for us a bit, and is an all-around nice guy. I don't do it because I feel sorry that he is doing a job he doesn't want to do or that I would not want to do.
