Fozzie Punch 801s Needs a Lover... please help

Okay so right now I've got me a Rockford Fosgate Punch 801s Amp. It's all lonely in my garage sitting next to two useless JLw0's. Rocky wants a new biyatch will you help him find one?

I'm not an expert at picking out subs and could definitely use help. I listen to nonstop hip hop, however I need subs that sound good while playing the heavily jazz influenced A Tribe Called Quest so I'm not looking for a 1-trick pony namean. I would like a versatile sub but that is SPL strong. I plan on fiberglassing an enclosure and was thinking I'd rather take up small amounts of space instead so the less subs the better.

Heres my first idea. Would a Pioneer Primo TS-W3004SPL sound good as a daily driver if I bridged the 801s? One very strong 12" should probably satisfy my needs cause I'm not down with bleeding from the ears..

okay so a 3004SPL would provide good SPL, decent SQ and would not be overburdened by 800-900W RMS? Also how would the wiring work out? My amp goes a little somethin like this:

200 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms

400 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms

800 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms

stereo or bridged mono output

4-ohm stable in bridged mode

50-250 Hz high-pass/low-pass crossovers

Would I be getting the 3004SPL in 2Ohm or 4Ohm version?

Also I'd appreciate alternatives... don't want to take the the already Pioneer hooked up guys advice as set in stone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I'm not sure what configurations the 3004SPL come in but you'd need either a Dual 2 ohm or a Single 4 ohm sub to wire it to 4 ohms.

okay.. just checked- the 3004spl does come in a dual 2-ohm setup..

still tho.. anything else that would give equal results?

hmm actually forget all this.. seems like this forum shows love for these Pioneer Primo's.... now all I need to do is hustle some things, get the cash flow going and buy them.

Question about boxes.. what I believe I know is that a ported box will provide the most SPL, but I plan on making a fiberglass enclosure (already have half the mold done from a previous install) ---- what will be lost from making a custom pod and how do I go about making the best acoustic fiberglass mold?

the sub will still get loud in a sealed enclosure, just ported gives it that extra lil bit, i've heard one 12 sealed and ported at a local shop....they pound either way, but IMHO it had much better SQ in the sealed rather than ported but still got loud, and the thing just wanged in a ported box
