Four Speakers Off One Amp?

Hey all,

I was wondering would it be possible to run 4 speakers (2 fronts & 2 rears) off one amp? Also, I'm looking at running two subs off one amp too.

I just wanted to know if that is a good idea and what wouls the quality of sound be like?

you can run 389405728568920 speakers of one amp if you wanted to...

you can get a four channel for the speakers and if you have the right deck you can still adjust your fade/balance. or you can get a two-channel and bridge both channels and run a pair on each channel but then you'd only be able to control your balance and not your fade.

as for subs, same thing, you can run them on a two channel, one sub per channel. Or do like most people on here and get a mono (1 channel) amp and just bridge it. just be sure that your amps and speakers will be compatible. Meaning if you get a pair of D4 subs make sure the amp is 1ohm stable unless you plan to run them at 4ohm. Remember that power is cheaper at lower a lower impedances, meaning 1000 watts RMS at 1ohm will be quite a bit cheaper than 1000 watts RMS at 4ohm.

That being said you are obviously pretty fresh in the car audio scene so you should post your goals and your budget and let people suggest stuff so you don't go running off and wasting money like so many others newbees do.

Thanks guys,

I've got a wagon and it's got a cassette player in it so I'm wanting to replace it with a new sound system.

I want a headunit that can play CD's, MP3, has a remote control etc, etc. Something like a Alpine CDE-103EBTi, but with 3 preouts preferably.

Now for the speakers, I want to replace the door speakers (fronts & rears), two tweeters in the dash and two subs. I'm tossing up between how many amps I should have, but thats depending on how many preouts my headunit will allow me yeh?

I've got a budget of between $1500-$2000 and I would like to stick to brands like Alpine and Pioneer if possibly.

Any help will be greatly appciated
