Forum running REALLY slowly?

ya time to upgrade the server, it has been slow for the past week

Upgrading a server takes $$$. I work in the IT industry, i'd like to know who is the owner of the server or if we're on a virtual server or sharing a server with another application because that is possible and the other site is causing the lagging not this one. . . . it varies how it's configured and what line is comming in where the server is housed. . . .

Looks like the server is at EV1 (now combined with The Planet) I have about 10 servers with them and they are a great fast network. My guess would be it is time to either look into another more powerful server or fine some sort of load balancing solution, maybe get a speedy server for mySQL and run the rest of the site off the current server.

EV1 has great DoS protection with TippingPoint and Fireslayer so I don't believe it is an attack on the server.

Also could me a multiple of other things also, forum has always seemed slow to me a little bit but nothing like lately, probably something actually wrong as the problems do seem pretty persistant lately compared to every once in a great while before.

Thanks for the offer to help out/ We have some good help already trying to fix it, but I'll let you know if they can't. It is taking a long time I know....

Glad to see its being worked on. At least its not dead, but slow is kinda annoying. My girl is the assistant administrator on crafster.org and they have something like 80,000 members, they have to upgrade pretty often.

In laymans terms, there was a bad kernel causing big spikes on server load, which made the database server crash. There might be a slight outage tomorrow night, when the kernel is upgraded again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif
