Forget at the dash or in the kick.....I present metering at the speedometer

Was playing around with all sorts of mic positions today.Oddly enough the speedometer score was the EXACT same as the dash, tried 3-4 times.And on the last run (this vid.) it did .1 higher.

*Note* This metering was not done with the TRF's in my sig. lol.They're currently out. This was 2 15" memphis power references, on a HK4000D at 4ohms.

Now I'm going back to the TRF's, gotta try them in this box though.

Meh, doing better numbers than quite a few people with 2 15's and 1000-1600 watts.Just wait until I get my other 4hp back.

I KNOW there's another db and a half in this set-up, as I pulled a 146.5 on the tl last year with a little less power.I just gotta find it again.I'll really play with it more once I get the TRF's in this box.

Tweaking it.Basically, trying anything and everything to get the score to go up.Anywhere from moving seats, opening glove boxes, moving the box, adding duct tape, etc. Playing around with the box position alone can make you gain, or lose a few db's.

SPL involves A LOT of time with the meter, testing different things (some sound stupid, but if they work).

So far the dash has been friendly to me.Well, somewhat.Once I get my other trf back, I'll be a member of the 150 club again.

not really always the truth.

Some vehicles are louder on the dash than in the kick. Just depends on how the car is built and the shape of the dash, and the size of the cabin.

One thing I do know is that my truck doesn't like to be sealed. I haven't metered it sealed but it's obvious that it's not as loud to the ear.
