FORD GUYS!!! HO Alt wiring, what are these 2 wires for??

Bought a HO alt for my car that I put in as a 2nd alt. This one will be running off the a/c belt. I have no idea what these 2 wires are supposed to go to.

The alt is from a 96-98 mustang, 92-97 towncar, and the thunderbirds with the 4.6 engine.

Obviously I have the main power output to battery connection, but what the shit are these others for and what would be the best place to run them...

on mine, the green wire goes to a switched 12V source and is what runs teh voltage regulator and teh other goes to the terminal I believe... Mine is a little different being a 3G alt but... that connector/wires are the same as mine... BRB

yes, that wire controls the voltage regulator on the alt. so a wire that sees power only when the vehicle is running would be what you want.

Just double checked and that is correct...

green/red goes to a swtich 12V and the yellow/white goesto the output post

I believe the green/red will go to your green and white. I have a 1989 F-150 and im pretty sure thats where mine went, i can double check when i get home tonight.

Well this isnt going into a ford, its just a ford alt, so I have to find other sources, just needed to confirm what they were for

as for the wiring, I literaly just went ot the garage and double checked, yellow/white goes to the output terminal and the green/red is switched 12V

I have the same plug in my Mark Viii. Same engine almost, but one goes to switched 12v/ignition. And the other goes to the battery to sense the voltage. My Mark viii had the plug go bad a few months ago and kill a couple alternators, didn't realize it was the plug until i found out its common with these cars. If you don't know which is which, i can look on my car, but these people should have it covered.

Ah, ill try to figure out which wire it is, i know its part of my stock system and ill figure out where it goes.

Cool thanks, do you know if that switched source wire would DRAW power? I wanna tap it into a place in my fuse box but dont know if thats safe or not on the oem fuse sizes, Im assuming this 12V wire is just what turns the alt on? tells it to start crankin out amperage lol

I am not 100% sure but I don't think it draws any current. Mine is in a drag car so I just have it hooked up to one of my toggle switches and ran directly to the battery with a 12awg wire...
