I have looked nearly everywhere to try to get this question answered:
I am about to purchase a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid with the factory installed Nav head unit. Like with most hybrid vehicles, there is a display that provides current charging information of the hybrid cells, current MPG etc. (see image below)
I want to upgrade to a JVC KW-V830BT but don't want to lose the option to see the hybrid charging info. I was told by a Crutchfield advisor that I could have an Idatalink Maestro installed and it would show the information, but I called the company and they didn't think that it would.
In Prius installs, I've seen head units installed below the factory screen, giving the Prius owner two screens to look at. That wouldn't work in this model Escape though, as the CD/radio/nav/hybrid screen are a combined unit.
So, is there any way to get this to work so I don't lose this feature? I drove a company-owned Prius at a former job and had the thing die on me due to the charge running out. I learned the hard way you can't eat your lunch and chill out listening to the radio for your entire lunch hour. So from then on, I was always watchng the charge level.
thx.
