Focal to what now?

Not happy with the sound of my focals despite them sounding better then my last K2P set. I think it took a few years for me to realize I really don't like a bright tweeter despite the great detail these offer I want something that is easier for me to tune as I am no pro. Can someone recommend a set under $800.00? This is going into a regular cab Dodge Ram 1500 and they will be powered off a JL 300/2 V2 and an 8" W7 off a JL 500/1 V2. I have been looking at these so far. I still want them to get loud if possible.

DynAudio Esotec 242

Morel Elate

HAT Legatia Pro set

Rainbow CS 265 P Vanadium

Zapco CK-16.2

DLS Nobelium 6.2

I was originally going to go with focal than I looked at Image Dynamics much better reviews on them and also have a more natural sound. There tweeters are not going to blow a glass window "of cores if your active you can control that". I would look at ID or even CDT.

My only other thought is to possibly move to a JL 300/4 and go active with my current set. I have had this recommended few times. In the end this might be cheaper too. My only concern is the focal tweets are 8ohm.

si , 8ohm tweeters would just mean a little less power from your amp for them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's a tweeter lol. Shouldn't need a whole bunch of power to sound good. Remember, music is dynamic so don't expect to be getting a constant 75w RMS per channel at 4 ohms. Going by that rating at 8 ohms, 37.5w RMS is still more than enough for many tweeters.

What's the sensitivity on the tweeter?

Tweeter specs... So active is the way to go? Also did the stock x-over boxes divide the power evenly between the two or was it setup to drive the woofer with more power?

That's a pretty sensitive tweeter. The impedance in this case won't mean a whole lot.

As for going active, depends on what you plan on using to do the processing. What HU are you running?

Not shabby. Have you considered using raw drivers, like Peerless or Vifa by chance?
Sure haven't, I may have a buyer for my Focal's for $500.00 and I can get the Dynaudio 242 kit for ~600.00. This is tempting me. Would be a cheap upgrade compared to swapping amps cables etc and then possibly not being happy with the bright tweeters. I went with the 2 channel amp hoping to keep things simple. I just want something that doesn't hurt my ears from brightness.
