Focal Components WITHOUT crossover?

Hey there,

I was gifted a set of Focal loudspeakers for my car - the Focal Access 130 A1 5.25" components (minus tweeters + crossovers)

Only problem is I was only given the loudspeakers rather then the entire kit...

Can I run the loudspeakers without the included crossover without damaging them?

It would be powered by an aftermarket Pioneer deck...

If I was to ebay a set of proper focal crossovers for these speakers, would I be able to maintain use of my current installed tweeters?? and run them using the Focal crossover?

I drive a '97-'03 Grand Prix w/ 8speaker Delco setup (front components - no crossover)

Without the crossover that would be called running active.

You can always pick up a cheap crossover off ebay or there might one a pair in the classifieds section.

This is a bad thing? Could it cause speaker damage?

If I grabbed a set of non-focal crossovers would damage occur?

Not enough power there to damage them. You don't have to buy the focal xover. If you amp them later do run them above 80 hz. Not for damage sake, they just don't reproduce below 80 well. If they want to distort with your HU you can just put a bass blocker on them for now set at 80. When you amp get one with a built in high pass or buy an electronic xover. The electronic will give you more flexibility by allowing your sub to go through it with an additional amp. So more flexibility than a focal xover.

umm 20 watts on a tweet will damage it if it's trying to play full range lol. IMO, unless you have a way of at least hi passing the tweet and probably the mid, I wouldn't run it like that.

Okay... so theres been a development haha

I have a set of focal mids + xovers that I was gifted - Access 130 A1 series components (minus tweeters)

I went to local car audio shop and bought a set of Rockford Fosgate FNQ3614 components - tweeter + crossovers (missing mids) for a killer deal

I was recommended by shop to use the Rockford xovers as the tweets might b different response and its more important then mids... but the crossovers barely fit in the door leaving the door skin not sitting flush.

Would it be a problem if I ran the tweets of the focal xover since its sooooo much smaller and arguably, better quality? I know tweeters are sensitive to proper freq but who knows....

Components are being powered by a Clarion APX4241 4-channel amplifier as seen here:

# 4-ohm impedance

# 6-50 watts RMS power range (100 watts peak)

# frequency response: 65-20,000 Hz

# sensitivity: 91 dB

the only thing i see majorly different is the freq response being higher on the rockfords....

what are your thoughts?
