I'm choosing between the Focal 165A3 or Focal 165VR3 for my '09 Mini with the 10-speaker factory HiFi system. I'd be running these speakers off the factory HiFi amp, which is:
Amplifier power: 2 x 40 W (2 Ohm) Bass, and 6 x 25 W (2 Ohm).
Bandwidth: 40 Hz to 20,000 Hz
Max. acoustic pressure 104 db
Both the 165VR3 and the 165A3 are 3-way component systems, which is perfect, as the fronts I'll be replacing in the Mini include a 1" tweeter, 4" mid, and 6.5" sub.
Do you think that the 165VR3 is so much better than the 165A3 as to justify spending the extra $230? Would one speaker be better than the other for running on the factory amplifier?
