Hi guys, long time listener first time caller. I can't seem to find this question anywhere else so here we go. I've been into car audio since I was 16. Now I'm 30 and revisiting the realm of subwoofers. I have an 04 sti that I have had wired for amp and subs for about 10 years. I sold my sub long ago and have been in the quest to get more base. Enter the current set up. 1200w max amp and 12" kicker compvr. I also had a capacitor laying around. Let's leave the capacitor debate off the table but here's the problem.
Now that it's wired and working, fm signals are almost non existent. However, Kill the amp and capacitor and it's perfect signal. All was working fine with no loss of signal before the capacitor got wired in. Cap and amp are grounded separately. Pos is battery to cap to amp. I may have just answered my own question but the sti radio antenna is run through its rear window and engrained in the glass. Is it possible the ground is too close to the antenna causing the signal loss? Also I've noticed If there's nO power demand there's no signal loss while amp is on. So big hits==Cap in action which == low signal.
Sorry that's long but thanks in advance.
