Flac>mp3?

You need to covert from FLAC to ALAC(apple's lossless format) using a third party program like dbpoweramp.

After that you can play flac in Itunes. Apple does not support FLAC at the moment and I doubt they will in any near future.

However, my advice is that you use winamp or other programs that play FLAC if you want the files played in your windows.

Using iTunes? Sorry, due to iTunes' design we can't add FLAC support; ask Apple to support FLAC!

If you want to play FLAC files, here is how with some popular players:

* Windows Media Player (WMP) - Microsoft does not make it easy, but try this DirectShow filter

* Winamp - Winamp plays FLAC out of the box (download the Full version to also get FLAC encoding).

* dbPowerAMP Audio Player - Install the FLAC plugin.

* Media Center/Media Jukebox - Install the in_FLAC plugin.

* MediaMonkey - Plays FLAC out of the box.

* (more)

MP3s are great because of their smaller file size as they are compressed files.

If you have an expensive system in your car, for the best sound quality, use CDs(original). 320 is more than sufficient for every day listening in your car.

if you want to play flac in your car, the way i do it is using my droid phone and aux cable using a third party music player Meridian. Keep in mind that HU in the market do not supprt flac because it's processor intesive, meaning it costs more for them to make a HU with FLAC support. Nonetheless, i think we'll see HU's with FLAC support in the very near future. FlAC, i think is an open source so i think companies could work something out to make it work.
