so i got this RE SE XXX - i think that I was wanging on it too much before it was broke in and the CA glue fixing the spider to the cone is kinda separating on 1/3 - 1/2 of the area

is it possible or feasible to just do a re glue to fix this?

everything else seems good to go - it was operating just fine as is also

anyone?

tryin to go cheap on this and not do a full recone (CA glue is 25 bucks / recone is 100 bucks)

Spiders don't actually attach to the cone. Sometimes it might look like it does but it doesn't. It attaches to the former. Yeah it should be possible and pretty easy.

I would order some Ca glue and activator from fixmyspeaker.com. Then once you receive it, prep the work area. Set up newspapers or something under your work area to catch stray glue because it's not coming off of what it touches. Then prop the sub up so the part of the joint you're wanting to fix is facing straight up. Don't forget to do the top and bottom of the spider. This is the only way this joint has enough strength. Get the ca glue all over the joint and then spray it with activator as quickly as you can. Only give it a spray or two on each side. Then allow the glue to dry for several hours.(the glue becomes tacky extremely fast, and the outside that the activator hit becomes hard fast, but it is only the outside. The glue inside of the hardened outer portion is still not strong.) You're done.

^ actually its called a triple joint spider former and cone meet. not all subs have this but most. they are all 3 glued together which makes a really strong joint.

to fix: get a bottle of rubber toughened ca glue and a 3" piece of shrink tube 3/16. shrink the 1 end on the ca glue tip and use the long tip to get to the tripple joint. lay the sub on its side and do like 1/4 the former at a time then spray with acc. hope this helps.. glue up the back of the cone 1/4" to strengthen too...

Hmm I don't mean to be a douche but the vast majority of times the spider does not touch the cone. It is disadvantageous to have them touch. If the spider and cone attach to the former in seperate locations it helps to keep the former/coil linear. When the spider and cone attach at the same place they have much less control over coil rocking.

Also, just because it's call the "triple glue joint" does not mean that they all touch. It is still a triple joint no matter if they touch or not.

most all of the re subs and the 1 in question the cone is tight to the spider. the tripple joint is exactly what it means ,3 pieces come together.

grab a re se,sx,mt and look between the cone and spider there is a bead of glue.

before putting the cone on you put a bead of ca glue 1/4" up the former from the spider when the cone is pushed inplace it glues the cone to the former and to the top of the spider. then you add 3/4 oz of epoxy ontop of the cone to former.

the vast majority of subs the cone touches the spider...
