So at the moment I don't have a vehicle I can fit with an upgraded audio rig. But I want to get a few speakers and a subwoofer and build a box just for garage use in the meantime so I can become acquainted with the process. I've done a lot of reading into the existing threads and blog posts etc. and just wanted to run my plans by some people with experience.

So since it's just a garage setup for the time being I am keeping it relatively budget oriented. I wanted to get two coaxial speakers instead of a set of midranges and a set of tweeters, and a single subwoofer. In regards to an amp I got an A/B that was 4ohm stable and 4 channel so I could bridge the subwoofer. As for the power supply though I haven't found too much helpful information regarding this, stuff like how much power I'm actually able to draw and what fuses to use. So I'm under the impression that a regular discount 12v will work with just some standard fuses and since there's no car charging it I was going to hookup just a cheap trickle charger to the battery to keep a charge.

As for audio input I was just gonna get a 3.5mm to RCA connector so I could hookup a computer or cellphone to play audio off of. I'm not too keen on the watts but have a basic understanding that RMS is usually about 1/2 of the actual amount of watts needed(but not always), but in regards to the fuse I'm not as confident, I feel like I've got the watts measured out so that the setup should work but I don't think that using fuses is as one sided. In all the tutorials and posts I've read it's just "oh and use the fuse to keep it from shorting out" but there's all the different fuses and I'm not sure how specific/accurate I need to be in regards to the rating or amperage of the fuse. I also haven't seen it specified whether the negative wire needs a fuse or not either.

I'm fully aware that I could be getting better brand name or higher quality equipment but it doesn't bother me and this is a very budget oriented setup, I'm really just looking for help with learning what actually works with what and what doesn't work and will risk breaking or shorting out your components. Once I do have a vehicle that I can outfit with speakers, subwoofers, and amplifiers though I will be using name brand and higher quality components, since it will be a more permanent setup. This is really meant to be like a baby's first sort of thing in the sense it functions and has enough information for me to understand how the whole process works.

Many thanks in advanced to any help or advice offered, I am looking forward to your feedback.
