First tattoo. Brand new and fresh

I've been enlisted for 8 years and didn't get my first for at least 2 years in. Honestly, props to you for wanting to represent what you just endured, but I pray the Corps doesn't leave a sour taste in your mouth. That would be one hellofa regret piece. For future work, I'd recommend getting elements that could be considered military-related but aren't blatantly obvious. Stuff like nautical stars, swallows, etc. That way if you just finish this enlistment and get out because you hated it, you won't have to look down at that tattoo with regret.

Congrats on graduating at MCRD btw. Do you have orders yet?

They don't sacrifice going through boot camp.....they eat better than most there and get free personal trainers to keep fit. And they get paid to do it......
Now after a tour or two...then yes. Boot camp....no.
Signing up and making it through boot camp in and of itself is a sacrifice. You think we wouldn't have rather been back home with our friends, hanging out, watching tv on the couch? And, you guys can trust that once he makes it through his technical school, being a Marine, he will deploy. It's not a matter of if, but when....

Too true. Luckily he's in comms, so his likelihood of front-line is pretty minimal. If he was Army, I'd say he was screwed but our baby brothers like to take care of their geeks. He was smart getting into a MOS that's more technically oriented.

this. My ex-gf wanted a tattoo, she got a prison tat for sure on her back. I warned her, but they don't listen when they're young and end up paying for it.
lulz.... this girl had 2 when I met her at 18, but they were small & hidden... stars on her side/stomach & wings on her right shoulder....

but this one is a huge dream catcher with feathers....on her **** forearm. but she's 21, grown & independent, in college, & life is all about clubbing, partying, & alcohol.....

mad lulz in 2-3 years when she is living at home again & waiting tables at outback.

It's not that bad. Should see some of our applicants coming in with tattoos on the neck or behind the ear...automatic disqualification
His isn't bad, if he sticks with the military .....

but a huge forearm tattoo isn't the brightest idea when you want a criminal justice degree

That's what I was kind of referring to. He might even still have a shot at JAG and manage to keep the tattoo. But you're right. Civilian law is going to shake their heads at a forearm piece.

bahhhhahahaa....right. Also I don't get why girls get their name tattooed on their wrists. Are they so dumb that they gotta look at that when people ask their name?

It's all good, all her cool friends have tattoos. She has it all figured out. She's gonna party & drink her way thru college with a C avg then get an awesome paying job in the city. As she said, "It's not the '50's, tattoos are accepted."

Poor girl. I tried warning her but she just got mad.

Girls are way too impressionable with peer pressure from 15-21 or so. She was more mature at 18 in high school when we started dating then she was at 21 & a junior in college when I dumped her.

She went from being a good, honest, & modest girl to lying *****. Her roomates are 3 immature girls. I wasn't suprised when she started cursing all the time including f uck in every other sentence, quit taking school serious, started wearing slutty dresses & skirts, started going to clubs, started partying & drinking almost daily, or even when she started lying to me & cheating on me.... but after I dumped her & her dad showed me a pic of her new tattoo I went into shock....

then I fell in the floor laughing at her stupidity. It's mind boggling how a human can change so much, so fast.

& I'm in no way anti-tattoo... I have a very large tattoo of my native american heritage..... but it is on my chest & side. Hell, most people dont even know I have it. A large forearm tattoo of something trivial like a dreamcatcher for a young woman in the criminal justice/psychology field is just idiotic.

Hopefully she finds a free removal clinic then. Some of the hospitals here even offer removal service free with volunteer work...
It covers her whole forearm.... that would be hard to remove & would leave a very nasty & ugly scar.
