Hi all. After tons of reading, mostly here, I just started my first real install. I say real because I'm making sure to do all the basics right- something I've never done before.
Some of the equipment I already had, some I bought. This is such a learning process, I already have a few upgrades planed and this system isn't even in yet!
Truck: 2001 GMC Sierra Extended Cab, LOUD Duramax diesel 2500HD
Here's the system:
PioneerHU
CDT EF61
BA 12.5LF 2 ohm subs
Kenwood 2 x 120 RMS front
Hifonics BX 1605D
RAAM Mat
KNU concepts wiring, 1gauge etc etc...
So... today I deadened all four doors. It took quite a while but was straight-forward. I put 2 layers on the front door outer skins (maybe overkill but it's too late now) a layer on the inner and a big patch of Ensolyte (closed cell foam) behind the spreakers. The rear doors got one layer on the door skins (should have put it on the inner, but I wasn't paying attention). There is already a big drop in cabin noise, and I can hear where there are more problems- they're next on the list. As soon as the cableing gets here, the floors, as much of the firewall as possible and the rear wall will be deadened too.
I already have the HU installed, and the difference is large. Even with the stock speakers and RAAM Mat there is a big, big difference. I am very much looking forward to getting the rest of the RAAM Mat in, so I can mount the components, amps, and build my box- sealed, 1cf per sub. This is starting off great, and I'll keep the post updated.
