First Flat Tire....

D@mn it...

I go outside work on my brake, and my back tire is flat. I go to get the spare and shit, NO SPARE, just a jack. (bought the car used, just assumed it was there.) So my mom had to bring my one of my stock tires... And the inner lip of my rim is bent, and the tire seems fine. So I am thinking I hit a pothole and bent the rim, which broke the seal of the rim and tire. But I dont know.. Gonna take it to a rim shop tomorrow. Anyone know if they fix a small bend? I know they can, but not all shops will because not everyone feels its a smart idea. I dont want to get rid of my $3200 rims... How can I sell only 3 if that one is bad anyway?...

I have beaten bent rims back into place with a small sledge and a peice of wood. If it is on the inside or if it is just small enough to not hold a good bead then you can probably do it to where it is not noticeable. Its easiest to do with the tire on so you can keep inflateing it and beat/bend untill the bead holds.

Always check your spare. Check its pressure every now and then, too - learned that lesson after I blew out a tire on I-81, almost blew out the spare before I made it to a truck stop and filled it back up.

4awg or greater jumper cables, flares, flashlight, antifreeze/1qt of 30wt oil...these are things you should always have with you. I can't count the number of times I've helped others or helped myself get out of a jam that could have been much worse if I wasn't prepared for it.

Is it possible to heat it up with a blow torch and bend it back into place? Or does your way work fine?

Also, do they make tubes for 20" size 35 tires?

I have no idea about the heating. All that I have done has been alluminum alloy and it was more or less just to get them to hold air and be safe to drive on. The first time I did it was on one of mine that I had hit the curb and it went flat in just a few seconds. I thought it was totally trashed but one day hanging out at a party I grabbed my buddies hammer and an air compressor and had it. It worked really well and I never had to air that tire again and put 2 more sets on it over the next several years. The only problem was it had a bunch of hammer marks on the wheel so thats when I decided to start using a peice of wood to dampen it. I am no professional and I really dont know if doing this is safe or not, I was just bored and to cheap to buy another rim and it worked

Depending on the metal, heating it may cause it to weaken or it may cause it to become discolored with heat marks.

They are three piece aluminum rims...

I'll just take it to Custom Wheel Connections tomorrow and see what they say.

But I might regret it, pain in the ***....

yeah, Take it to a couple of shops and get some opinions on it. If they cant do anything for you and your a cheap bastard like I am sometimes then just go and beat the shit out of it and see if that works.
