First Credit Card .. besides my bank card

I use my credit card for most things then I immediately pay it off through my online banking. The reasons:
1) I increase my credit rating.

2) Increased protection through the ability to dispute charges as well as an extra year of warranty on any products I buy.

3) Quicker, easier purchases.

Of course, I know how to manage my money whereas most people don't.
thats what i want to do, like build up my credit score so its good and use it minimally, and just use cash/debit to buy things...

can i do that? lmao, im only 16 and trying not to get into alot of debt really early...so im stocking up my knowledge so i dont mess up like my pops...=]

ok dad

thanks for the info captain obvious.
dont give him attitude dude.....it would be a better idea for u to use ur bank card so u can over spend urself..........assuming u have a lower paying job (no offence, but ur youngish im guessing, and thats the kind of jobs kids have)

and a word of advice from me to you DO NOT pay for friends when u go out to lunch becasue it might be easier, unless they give u the money upfront they will forget to pay u back

What might seem obvious to some is advice many folks now wish they both had been given and that they followed.

There's good reason my current credit rating is over 800, tyvm....and being foolish with a credit card (which first time users are statistically known to do more often than not) isn't it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

i bet half the country thats thousands upon thousands of dolars in debt would've loved to hear these words before they ****ed up there lives.
You've got to remember, poeple arent that smart.
Yep. Sad but true fact.

please overextend yourself and have fun in bankruptcy.

Growing up in a house with a mother who is bloody brilliant with numbers had its advantages. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I appreciate the kind words but sabes isn't even the OP...

got turned down for a bestbuy credit card yesterday because i have no credit. i needa keep looking for one to accept me though.
they gave me 1300 when i was trying to get a hd tv with no interest til 2009 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i try to use my cred card like i would use my debit card, to build my credit and quickly pay it off, my monthly limit is hella high imo but i only use like 500 or so a month and pay it off

interest ftmfl

really just trying to build my credit for when i go to buy a house, but i guess if im married and my gf at the time/fiance or whatever doesnt have credit then i guess it drags me down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif but im trying to get her to try to start her credit

well my credit score right now is 710 .. and i have 0%APR until july of 2008. I'm just trying to build credit so i can be approved of credit if i go buy a new car or later on for a apartment or a house. Everyone starts off somewhere with credit ..

My only advise to you is to pay the card off in full every month, don't let interest **** you. If it's your first card I'm sure your APR is probally 20%+ which is outragous. If you pay off the card in full, you don't pay the interest. It might not sound like a lot but interest can **** you in the long run.

it always starts with JUST The gas.
Then it gets convient to take a girl out to dinner, and one thing leads to another, and youll end up with terrible credit and paying out the azz for finance charges, late fees, etc before you know it.

happened to me, dont reccomend it.
That slippery slope doesn't happen to everyone.

Old rule of thumb about credit cards is to never use it for consumables, things that you buy and use up immediately.
Why not? I use it for 99% of purchases.

No, the rule is to use a credit card for things you CAN afford, plain and simple.
If you have a $10k limit on your card, $436.65 in the bank, and only deposit $127.67 into your bank account after paying bills, you do the math.....

I don't understand. Or maybe you don't. There is this concept called leverage. Most of the time you are get an intoductory promotional offer....

The point is to use the credit card on things you cannot afford. I have use credit cards to make investments and probably will always. Why do you worry about having $127 in your bank account? I hardy ever have more than $50-60 in a bank account.

You people's and your money management skills make me LoL.
