I ran some calculations with BassBox pro on a ported enclosure, and I keep running into the problem where my port has to be longer than the box can possibly accomodate. (I was using a 12W7 just for the sake of fiddling with it, which may be my first mistake)
My box size is set, somewhere around 1.8cubic feet (stealth, fiberglass). I haven't picked out a sub or subs yet, and I was playing with the ported idea to see if it was feasible. I WAS running a pair of IDQ10's sealed, shared airspace and have been happy with them, but they're pretty old, and I have the opportunity to improve a bit. I don't want the sub to sound sloppy, but the car it's going in probably could never accomodate much SQ (Part racecar, part hotrod), so I'm looking for some power output.
Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something bizarre, or if ports just have a tendancy to be long? I have about 10" of room behind the baffle, MAX. I could make the port protrude out of the baffle, but I'd rather not.
