Finally measured....

Well, i finally took the time to measure out my trunk in my SRT4 and decide how much space I really wanna dedicate to a speaker box.... Here it is:

17" Height X 13" Depth X 32" Width

Inside volume is 3.14 ft^3 before sub and port displacement. These dimensions lead me to 3 conclusions:

1- Single 15" with a medium sealed box or small ported

2- Dual 12's in a sealed box

3- Dual 10's in large sealed or medium ported

I want bass that hits HARD and goes LOW (don't we all)

For some reason I'm leaning towards the single 15. I don't exaclty know why but I think it'd be what I'm looking for. If this is the case, would you recommend 3.14ft^3 ported or sealed? I only have a RF BD500 right now, but that can be easily upgraded in the future, so don't let that make the decision.

Thank you all for your time and help!!!

BTW: I'm planning between 200-250 for a 15 if that's the route, so Type-r, CompVX, etc.....

If you want a sub that doesn't require alot of air space and is made to be in s sealed box that hits hard and low try the new Kicker Solo Classics i think the 15 only uses 1.33 air spacethe 10's and 12's use less than .75

no the solo classics don't give up bass they are just made for smaller boxes. kicker designed them to have the sound of the cvr's and the cvx's but for cars with less space. because of cars that are being made that way people don't have to sacrifice. but you have the space it just depends on what you want to go with. just tying to give you some ideas. Check out the ces coverage on youtube for the kickers if you want

The srt4's are easy to get loud with.Sealed or ported they seem to do well in this car! If going ported i would say 1 15". you can fit it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif The last one i did was a 15" american bass VFL on a VFl100.1 amp, in 3.25cuft after sub and port Ran a 146.3 on the TL:)

tc sound subs or audiopulse subs dont need that much airspace. one tc3000+3 cubes ported would be fine id say. you could make it a little bigger though for good measure maybe

do you want the bass in the car musically for yourself or do you want bass heard and felt down the street for other people? lol.

dont get me wrong when i was younger i was all about the multiple 15's and trying to vibrate awnings off of store fronts, im more of a 10's n 12's person now though, no more than 2 of either personally.

Sorry bout the three threads.... my direction keeps changing because I keep running into road blocks with everything I plan!!! Thanx for the help though....

I've read a few places how people are using a 2" wide port.... and JL even suggests it for their w7 12... That's enough port area for a high excursion sub??? Wouldn't think so but must be.....
