Ok first off I just want to say thanks for everyone who has helped me with purchasing the right stuff.. This is my first system which is going in my 2002 Ford Explorer XLS, and I think I shopped around pretty well, including shipping and tax I got everything for a grand total of $1110.74. The only thing I didn't get yet is a yellow top and a small kinetik for the back which i'm getting tomorrow, and some speakers but haven't decided on which ones yet so that'll come next paycheck.

Tomorrow will be my first install ever, so its going to be tough. I've got one of my friends coming over to help me and he's pretty good with installing systems and such, so we should be able to do it. I'll probably still end up posting some quick questions though tomorrow night. Also, I know I need a HO alternator which i'll be purchasing very soon.

One more thing - Do you guys think I should be fine running at 0.5 ohms, or should I wait for the HO Alt? Should I just run it at 2 ohms for now to be safe? Will 2 ohms even be enough to make it sound decent?

Anyways..

Setup:

- DB Ported Box 33" Wide, 17" Tall, 20.5" Deep with 4 Cubes and a 3.75" wide port tuned to 32 hz. ~ Courtesy of vitveet.

- 15" Dual 1 ohm Loaded Fi BL

- Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D ~ Courtesy of ctmike.

- Pioneer deh-3900MP HU

- Kicker Dual Amp Install Kit

- 15' Knu Koncepts Fleks Kable (For Big3)

On with the pics:

What a lovely site..

Is this everything I need? (Besides Alt, Batterys)

What all am I going to need for the install and hooking up the wires and configuring the amp settings and HU settings??

So how do you guys think I did on my first system for a car audio noobie? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

lol yea.. do you have all the mounting hardware and wiring to hook the deck up.. i figured you probably do, but since u asked, and u never mentioned it, just a thought..

also in the explorer, you might have to run the power wire over the engine compartment (safely and out of the way ofcourse) and there is a grommet by where the steering rod comes through, but up a few inches.. HUGE gromment, and I don't think anything runs through it currently depending on ur application.. LMK what you find.. just trying to help out..

I tried getting it from ikesound for $109 I believe but they had it on back order, and considering i'm very impatient I cancelled it:cool:

So can anyone help me with what tools i'll need or is it pretty much common sense connecting all the wires and stuff? also should i purchase a multimeter to to test the voltage idle/drops?

i dont like the HU either.

i bought my girl one. i mean it works but it started skipping on clean cd's after like 2 months //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

could be an isolated issue though.

as for the install. every thing is straight forward. disconnect your ground and make sure its away from the neg terminal on the batt.

run your power wire, rcas, remote turn on lead, speaker wires to the cargo area. get the power wire through the firewall to the front battery. get the speaker wire to the front/rear door using the little rubber boot. get the rcas, up through the dash into the headunit space. connect the HU (99% of time just match the colors to the wires on the wiring harness).

connect the HU to the rca's, and the remote turn on lead. mount the amps in the back. give each one power. and wire up a ground back there while your at it, if you dont want to run one all the way back to the battery. mount the speakers etc and that should be it.

Id run it at 2ohms first... less ohms arent always better, and if you get 2 batterys, its best to Match them... Like 2 yellow tops, or 2 Kinetics....you know what i mean. and make sure you use a good ground.. a good ground as in... see if you can get to the frame, if not... use a seatbelt bolt, but use a wire brush to make sure all paint etc is off ect. Just dont skimp and youll enjoy endless hrs of bass

As for head unit settings...and amp settings, which are as important if not more than the install... Take a ride to your local car audio shop and ask them to check out your new setup you installed and ask them what they would reccomend it to be set at.... Not best buy or anything like that.. never them... anyway, because if you set your filters wrong and gains wrong... what may make you smile and go wow thats loud for about an hour... then youll be like ohh whats that smell an by the next day your sub will be a paper weight. Dont be the arrogant kid and just be like yea but its louder at this level, when the audio guy tells you its better at a lower setting, hes saving your subs life and your money!
