Filipino, asian or pacific-islander?

Just curious, me and my friend are caught up in an argument. We can't decide if Filipinos are considered asian or pacific islander. Would any of you care to enlighten us?

They are annoying. When u make fun of Asians they say they are pacific islanders. Then when people say Asian people are smart. Or Asian people did this or that good. They would say they are Asian. Freaking hypocrites.

My grandpop on my moms side is half filipino. His mom was straight off the boat. I hope some of his genes got passed down the line. He's 88 and still seems to be able to function @ 100%. I dunno though, the rest of my family seems to go in their 50's-60's.

You know what's sad...

The goverment considers someone who came here illegally, lived here for 6 years not paying taxes, not paying a dime of their "under the table paychecks" to the goverment - not paying for having 5 babies, not paying for cheese, milk, bread, water etc etc. and then taking a test, speaking 3 words of english, American Citizens.

I know some filipenoes who think they are asian...I know one who works at my job around 77 years old, finally going to be counted as an American citizen and changing his name to JACKSON BROWN

You are American if you have American Citizenship. My mom and I fought for 10 years to get our dual citizenship (Canada lol). I do feel though, I am not as "American" as someone who was raised here all their life. Living here for 12 years or longer does not constitute being a full American. I always think of myself as 75%
