Whats wrong with declawing? Because its wrong. Why is it wrong? Because declawing involves the cats actaul TOES, and not the nails. Cutting off the tips of the cat's toes causes the cat to walk on its heels. If your doctor doesnt do it right, the claw can start to regrow inside the toe, causing lots of pain. Since the cat is walking on its heels, its leg muscles and its back muscles get weak. So what you say? If the cat's leg and back muscles are weak, the cat experiences chronic back and shoulder joint pain. Long term effects cause the cat's spine to come out of alignment causing poor posture and, lets see, pain?
I challenge you to walk around your house, or a track or the sidewalk, anywhere, on your heels for ten minutes. Go ahead, try it; it isnt easy, in fact it hurts.
Not to mention the actual surgery hurts the cat and it takes a good long while to heal.
Why would you declaw anyways? I have three cats, and i can tell you that they, in their entire lives (15 total years of cats) have never scratched our furniture. You know why? Because we take the time to train them to use the scratching post.
I never have had to clip my cats nails, either. By using the scratching post, they keep them at a reasonable length. Even through the nails are needle-sharp, i could care less because they never scratch anything.
Concluding, only f*cking idiots declaw their cats.
People who declaw cats are:
A) Too lazy to train their pet properly
B) Ignorant of the consequences of declawing
C) Too ignorant to realize that cats will be cats.
