on the pods im making...instead of fleece, can u use like duct tape in place of fleece, then glass on that? or will it slide down the duct tape?

for example, instead of fleecing this, use duct tape?

Could use green floral foam to make your shape then lay mat directly on it. Then once your done pour a little acetone on the foam to dissolve it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the thicker the fabric the more resin it sucks up
More resin = stronger

wrong. resin does not make it stronger, fiberglass does. the only thing that happens by using a thicker material for the initial shape is the use of more resin. you are throwing your money away. i use the stuff that gymnastic outfits are made of - super thin, super stretchy.

again, resin does not add strength, fiber does.

here is an example of the stuff i use and you can plainly see how thin it is once stretched.

see how nice and smooth it is once a layer of resin was applied? cuts the sanding time down in a HUGE way.

to the op, resin/fiber will not stick to duct tape. a great tip is to cover the inner part of your rings with duct tape to prevent any resin or fiber from getting on it (the mounting holes).

I also use a router and a rabetting bit to cut a small groove into the outside of the ring. I then staple my fleece/fabric into this groove.

I then resin the shape, and before the resin hardens completely (when it's starting to gel) I cut away the fleece/fabric that covers my MDF ring.

This leaves a plain, completely ***** MDF baffle to mount to. No fabric/resin/filler to make my baffle uneven.

Pishaw.............I just simply tell the resin what , and what not to stick to. Then remind it of the countless resin hockey pucks that have been trashed over the years. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
