Fiberglassing Question

can you fiberglass directly over dynamat? what about right on top of metal?

for anyone who has done fiberglassing, have you had problems with the fabric pattern showing through? if so, i would like to know how you got around that problem. did you use a layer of the mat?

You can fiberglass over metal without a problem. But it won't stick unless you drill some holes in the metal for it to grab to. And even then it won't hold very well. Usually you will want to atatch it some other way. As for dynamat, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt, but I haven't done it before. As long as it can take the heat, I'm sure it will be fine. But you might have the same problems as metal. In that case, it's usually better to tape off the area, or use a releasing agent.

It will show through the fiberglass. But depending on how you are going to finish it, you will probably cover it with high build primers, body fillers, and then carpet, vinyl, or paint. So then you won't be able to see it.

Also, with fiberglass, you definitely want to use fiberglass mat or cloth. Otherwise your project will be brittle.

thanks, but i am still not sure how to attach it to metal, maybe im just dense, but i would like some suggestions on ways to affix it to my cab.

There are a couple ways to do this. The easiest is probably to use sheet metal screws. Just screw through the fiberglass, and into the metal. I will stay in place that way.
