this is gonna sound really dumb, but i dont really understand this. First you put layers of the resin w hardener mix on the fleece, and then it hardens. I get that, but them it says to put some sort of fiberglass chopmat down, and then continue with the resin. Now, why is this chopmat fiberglass necessary?

It adds the strength to the work. Fleece adds volume, and resin adds hardening, mat adds the strength.

Check out fiberglassforums.com if you are interested in fiberglassing the guys there are really helpful.

a little tip, if you can, try to lay your chopped matt on the inside. Its more difficult to do, but you will thank yourself in the long run. IF you can, make sure you lay that stuff as flat as possible. Cause the matt doesnt sand down very easy. As far as everything else, Ruckus hit the nail on the head.
