Fiberglass material list suggestions

Iv pretty much found exactly what I want to build. Does this seem within reach for a first timer?

What do you plan to use as a base to create curves and all?

You can always make a mold and make it thick glass so its pure fiber glass.

I think I'm going to use mdf as the front piece. Paint the fiberglass to merge the two pieces together. I'm just not sure how I'm get that top piece so flat.

Your gonna have to sand the glass then primer

Yea, Iv just got to be careful how far I sand down. Maybe I'll cut a 45 degree to make more room for the fiberglass?

I'll probably wrap it in carpet. I'm not really looking to sand more than necessary.

Any good resources for matching carpets?

the more of a "structure" you have made from wood that lets you stretch the fiber over it tightly the stiffer the fiber will be. and you need to put pressure after you coat it.. you need to make sure the layers have no air/gaps in between. another thing is the resin you use can make a huge difference.. a high quality resin will cure better and stronger..

Well I'll be using 3m resin. Unless I can find something better, that's what they've got at Home Depot.

Iv gotta find a few marine centers that may sell fiberglass by the roll. I'm still unsure about how much to buy.

Upholstery shops or car audio shops

Does anyone know if I would have cancelation issues going with this setup? Would I be better off getting one 12 with more power? I'm just a bit worried about airspace.

unless you do a lot of the structure out of wood you're going to use a gallon or more of resin. 1.5oz mat soaks it up like crazy and you'll want 4 solid layers of glass for those enclosures.

Going by the pics it does seem like a wood front/top with glassed rear/sides...

I would just be using the wood as the front piece. Everything behind that will be glass. Think I'll need more than one gallon for one enclosure? Or both?

Also, what is a good way to measure the airspace inside the enclosure. Iv heard packing peanuts/sand/water, but don't know how to calculate the space out of those materials.
