Fiberglass Icing

What would be good to get the box really smooth without sanding for a hundred years?

Make it out of ice. Or have someone else do it if you don't want to sand. Cause there is no way around it.

Well it sands alot easier. I know the icing stuff you're talking about, never used it though.

"Icing" is just finishing putty. Go to any body shop and ask them about it, it's used after body filler because it sands much smoother. You also use a higher grit sand paper with it but isn't necessary unless you want to paint.

Some resins have a kind of wax in them, which when used will rise to the top as it dries and makes it easier to sand. Kind of like slag in a weld. At least, this is the conclusion I draw from staying up til midnight looking for the cheapest resin that can be shipped to Michigan..

Thanks. I thought about gelcoat but it's cheaper to use awl grip or interlux marine paints.

At least I get the concept of the icing now.

"Icing" is one of the trade names for polyester glazing putty. You can get it at any auto paint supplier. There are lots of different brands, some dry fast some slow.

I use a stuff on fiberglass called Upol Dolphin Glaze

It's basically a self leveling spot putty that's really easy to sand like ya said...it's around 15-18 bucks a tube

They're all about the same price shipped. Cheapest so far was the stuff Req uses, which is about $34 shipped. I'm trying to remember if the Bondo stuff from the local Autozone was $29 or $39 / gallon.
