fi ssd or treo ssi 10s

Ive been searching and have come down to these two. Not sure which one to pick though. The boxes I have are very small sealed boxes. Both sites said they will work in small boxes. Which one should I go with, or are they a toss up.

Has anybody had experience with both of these or heard them in sealed boxes?

I kno i wont get to loud with the size of my boxes just which one will peform better

i had a Treo SSi 10. it was in a 1.75 cuft (net) ported box tuned to 35hz using a slot port with 21 square inches of port.

it got loud down low but lacked in both output and quality in the upper bass frequencies. it seemed to only like playing from about 45-50hz and down. it totally sucked for rock and metal. it seemed slow, sloppy, and boomy.

it might do ok in a sealed box with a lot of power going to it but in the box i had it in it didn't satisfy me.

i swapped it out for a Dayton Reference H.O. 10 in a .7 cuft net ported box tuned to 30hz. it suits my needs much better.

I will be putting them in a sealed box. Thanks for the input, does anybody have any experience or heard any of these in a sealed enclosure?
why are those two subs your only choices? why sealed? why not a sub that likes a small ported box?

Well I already had kappas to start then cvrs and i just want to try something different with more power in those boxes. I cant fit any bigger of boxes in my truck. There wedge boxes and they arent big at all so ported really isnt possible. I was looking into these two specs show they can work in small boxes just want to see if people have heard them in small sealed boxes

i think there are better subs out there if you need to go sealed. look at image dynamics. the idq's maybe. i have heard people say only to use the SSi in a big ported box.

the SSi is very inefficient as well and need a lot of power to get loud.

Well if its very inefficient in small boxes then that kind of takes that one out. I might just go with the ssd. I will look into the image dynamics. Does anybody have anything on the fi ssd sealed

this might not mean anything to you but like i said i went from the SSI to the Dayton HO. you might not really care. lol

on my Kicker ZX750.1 the SSI was being run at 2 ohms seeing about 750-800 watts rms in a huge *** box. i have the Dayton HO running at 4 ohms off of the same amp so it's getting about half the power, in a box less than half the size, with a third of the port area also tuned lower. also the Dayton HO has only 12mm of Xmax and the SSi has 27mm of xmax.

just from that, what sounds like the louder or better sounding setup?

well.... the Dayton HO has much, much better SQ, gets just as low(maybe even lower actually), and is pretty close in output(i'm not sure which one is louder honestly). the efficiency rating is only 82db on the SSi and 87db on the Dayton HO. the Dayton HO also cost less than half as much.

thats my thoughts on the SSi after having it in my car for just under a year. it IMO got beat by a sub that costs less than half the price. it might suit some peoples needs but not mine.
