Can I live?
What size enclosure would work best for this sub? I was thinking of getting one and putting 1100 watts on it. I can do about 5.5cuft firing back in my trunk or about 6.5 sub up/port back. The one firing back would be at a 60 degree slant due to trunk height restrictions. Will this work, or will I have to go larger with the enclosure for max output?

i thought that sub up/port back in a trunk didn't work well?

I beg to differ, I fliped my box in my sig to fire up (sub and port up) in my trunk and was suprised by the results, their was a gain in output into my cabin. But, I dont have any rear speakers and they have been removed.

Its one of the only ways it'll fit.
Agreed, I would go with 6.5 if I was you. Check out FI's forum, they have recommended specs over there.

Are you set on a 18"? A 15" would work and have plenty of room. Maybe a step up to the Q or a BL with just cooling would both work well off 1100w.

The 6.5 would be after port, but before sub, so that would cause what, maybe a .60 drop? Down to 5.9 or so? I'w dead set on an 18" as I currently run a 15". Its either this 18 or run a 12" that can take 2000 watts daily. I'm sure that even on half the power, the 18 on 1000would get louder than the 12 on 2000, cone area in hard to beat

I'd try and get as much airspace as possible, can you do sub+port up?

Please explain how I would be surprised iamamp3pimp? I have a very large car( 85 fleetwood) And this isn't for comps but for daily, with as much spl as possible on music. I would fire the 12 sub/port back. Do you really think that the 12 on 2000watts could hang with the 18 on 1000watts? Same motor just different baskets.

18 has more cone area though but the 12 could handle more power so i think it would be down to the box but idk i could be wrong
